October 5: A Prayer for Hope and Healing in America

Our Father, we thank You for Your loving care for the citizens of our nation during this time of grief and despair. Thank You, Father, for blessing those who trust in You, who have made You their hope and confidence. Thank You for loving us so much that You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ to redeem us from a life of despair and hopelessness. Gracious Father, we praise You with all of our hearts.  You merely spoke and the heavens were created. You breathed the word and all of the stars were born.  Your plans stand firm forever and Your intentions can never be shaken.  You are an awesome God.

Loving Father, our country is experiencing the aftermath of the tragic shootings in Baton Rouge, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Dallas.  Lives have been destroyed. Today, we cry out for the families of the people who have died and those who have been injured.  We declare that You, alone, are their refuge and place of safety.  You are their God and they can trust in You. Lord, Your Name is a strong fortress and those who run to You will find spiritual, emotional, and psychological healing.  We confess that even though the families of the victims and those wounded may feel pressure on every side by this tragedy, but they will not be crushed and broken. They may feel perplexed, but they will not give up and quit. They may feel like life is about to run them over, but they will not be abandoned by You. We recognize that their lives have been knocked down by this crime, but we decree that they will get up and keep going.  In Jesus’ Name, we cancel the assignments of the spirits of terrorism, racism, anger, violence, murder and rage.  As Kingdom citizens, we render these spirits powerless. We declare that no weapon formed against the citizens of our nation will succeed, and we silence every voice that rises against us all.

September 29: A Prayer for Wives Who are Desiring To Get Pregnant

Our Father, we thank You for the blessing of children and family. Thank You for each wife who stands in faithful expectancy of a child to hold in her arms. Thank You for Your creative power which is able to open closed wombs and cause them to thrive with new life. We will praise You, Lord, with all our hearts. We will tell of all the marvelous things You have done. We will be filled with joy because of You, and we will sing praises to Your Name, O Most High. May Your glorious Name be praised! May it be exalted above all blessing and praise!

Exalted Father, we believe that just as You were attentive to Hannah’s pleas for help, You hear the cries of every wife who longs to become a mother. We, the Body of Christ, declare that their prayers will not go unanswered, for You promised that You would withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. We confess that these wives will not grow weary and lose hope. In Jesus Name, we declare that bodies of each husband and wife in the Body of Christ are whole and complete, lacking nothing. We confess that they have victory over doubt, fear, and unbelief. We believe that You will connect them with those people who will love and support them as they trust You for children of their own. We decree that they will be parents who are full of wisdom and patience. They will train their children up in the way they should go, and when their children are old they will not depart from it. These expectant couples will do all they can to nurture their marriages so that the atmosphere of their home will be ready to receive children into a loving, peaceful environment.

List the names of any wives you know who desire to have a child and pray for them by name today:

Holy Spirit, we ask that You would prompt the wives who are desiring to get pregnant to disconnect from any negative influences in their lives. Lead them to develop strong, healthy relationships with faith-filled believers who will stand in agreement with them and their husbands. Teach them how to take care of themselves physically, mentally and spiritually. Help them to rest and trust in the Father’s perfect timing. Keep them from becoming envious of others who have already conceived a child. Heal their hearts and deliver them from any guilt or shame they may be feeling. Help their husbands to show compassion and be patient and understanding toward them as they wait to conceive. Once they do conceive, strengthen them against the temptation to worship or overindulge their children. May they always be thankful and give glory to God, keeping Him first in their lives.

Loving Father, forgive the wives who desire to get pregnant of any known or unknown acts of disobedience. Forgive the wives and husbands for any past sins they may have committed. Forgive them for holding unforgiveness in their hearts toward others. Forgive them for giving in to frustration, anger, or outbursts of wrath. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind the wives and husbands of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show You names or faces of people that You may need to forgive. As He shows You, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in Your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help the wives and husbands who desire to get pregnant to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Sovereign Lord, You are the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for You? You are mighty, but You do not despise anyone. You are mighty in both power and understanding. You are greater than we can understand. Your years cannot be counted. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

September 25: A Prayer for Physical Healing and Deliverance

Glorious Father, we thank You for salvation. Thank You for Your eternal love and unmerited grace. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to break the power of the devil and to bring us hope, health, and healing. Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit, to comfort and empower us. We give thanks because You are near. People everywhere will tell of Your wonderful deeds.  Lord, You are good and Your unfailing love endures forever.  You are great and You perform wonderful deeds.  You alone are God.

Awesome Father, You brought Israel out of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and powerful arm.  Jesus Christ, Your Son, turned water into wine, cleansed lepers, healed the sick, raised the dead, and fed five thousand people with two fish and five loaves of bread.  Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples so that we would believe that He is the Christ, the Son of God, and have life in His Name.  We believe Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever.  Therefore, Father, we expect You to display Your glory in the lives of those people who are in need of healing and deliverance.  With You, nothing is impossible.  We expect diseases to be dissolved, broken relationships to be mended, and those who are held captive in their minds and souls to be set free.  As we pray for those in need of healing and deliverance, we confess that Your power will operate through us.

List the names of people you know who need a physical healing and deliverance; encourage them to pray Scriptures of healing located at https://myprayerinstitute.wordpress.com/category/healing/)

Righteous Father, please help us to be bolder about praying for healing and deliverance.  Help those in need of healing and deliverance to trust in You with all of their heart and not depend on their own understanding. Holy Spirit, please open the eyes of their understanding so that they will understand the confident hope given to those Christ has called.  Remind people to look to You for help, strength, and power.  Father, cause Your awesome power to be experienced throughout our church and community.

Merciful Father, forgive those people who have doubted Your Word and Your works.  Forgive them for acting Godly, but denying Your power to perform healings, signs and wonders in their lives and in the lives of others.  Lord, please forgive them and restore to them the joy of Your salvation.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind those people who are in need of physical healing and deliverance to forgive others and please help them to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help those people who are in need of physical healing and deliverance to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Royal Lord, You are the Almighty!  Only You can open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf.  You cause the lame to leap like deer and those who cannot speak to sing for joy.  You cause springs to gush forth in the wilderness and streams to water the wasteland. You cause the parched ground to become a pool and springs of water to satisfy the thirsty land.  Great and awesome is Your Name.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

September 13: A Prayer for People Overcoming the Death of a Loved One

All praise to You, God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! You are our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. We will sing to You as long as we live. We will praise You to our last breath! Father, we give thanks to You and proclaim Your greatness. The whole world shall know what You have done. We will sing Your praises to You. We will tell everyone of Your wonderful deeds. We thank You, Father, for sending us Your Son, for in Him we have great hope.  Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Him will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in Him and believes in Him will never die! We are so grateful that when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking on human form so that You can understand what we experience.  Thank You for leaving us with a gift – Your peace of mind and heart. We thank You, Father, for the life of our loved one(s) who has gone on to be with You. Thank You for their time on earth and the impact they had on our lives. We are thankful to You and we bless Your Name.

Merciful Father, so why are we discouraged? Why are our hearts so sad? We will put our hope in You, God! We will praise You again – our Savior and our God! Abba, Father, You saw Your one and only Son, whom You love, die on the cross. So You must understand why we mortals have such a difficult time overcoming the death of a loved one. Father, we
do trust Your Word. We proclaim that our family and friends who have experienced the death of a loved one will not be afraid, for You are with them; not be discouraged, for You are their God. Your Word says that You will strengthen them and help them. You will hold them up with Your victorious right hand. Your Name, Lord, is a strong fortress; the godly
run to You and are safe. We declare that it is by Your great mercy that we have been born again, because You raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance – an inheritance that is kept in heaven for us, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. So we decree that bereavement will last only for a short time and joy will replace sorrow.

Holy Spirit, when we see our brother or sister mourning the loss of a loved one, help us to be compassionate but also to edify him or her with God’s Word of hope and peace. Bring to our remembrance Scriptures which will help to bring solace to help our brother or sister know what will happen to the believers who have died. As we do this, we trust that You will help them so they will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with Him the believers who have died.  Help us to encourage each other with these words. Remind us to care for the physical needs of families in mourning, with food, transportation, child care or any other material thing that may be needed. Help us to be patient and to not be insensitive to those in pain. Holy Spirit, when we are grieving as well, comfort us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.

Holy Spirit, help me to become more sensitive to the needs of those around me who are in mourning and show me how I can be an encouragement to them:

Gracious Father, when death comes to those we love, we will not tear our clothing in our grief, but will tear our hearts instead. We will return to You, our God, for You are merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. You are eager to relent and not punish. When we are grieving, Father, forgive us for concentrating on what we see with our eyes rather than what we believe in our hearts. When others are grieving, forgive us for being impatient as time goes on after a death. Forgive us when we utter unkind words, making light of someone else’s pain at the loss of a loved one. Holy Spirit, chasten us if we are not taking care of the physical or emotional needs of a person who has suffered loss. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed.) Holy Spirit, remind those who are overcoming the death of a loved one of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Almighty God, the heavens proclaim Your glory! The skies display Your craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night, they make You known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. You are awesome in Your sanctuary, Lord God.  We pray in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen!

August 28: A Prayer for Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Personnel

Merciful Father, we thank You for the men and women who serve as police officers, firefighters and emergency first responders. Thank You for empowering them spiritually, mentally, psychologically and physically for the trauma that they face daily.  Thank You for being their strength and their hope. You are awesome in Your sanctuary.  God of Israel, You give power and strength to Your people. Praise be to You, God! May all who are Godly rejoice in You, Lord, and praise Your holy Name! Let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. We give thanks to You who made the heavens so skillfully. Your faithful love endures forever. We give thanks to You who placed the earth among the waters.  Your faithful love endures forever.

Today, we stand in the gap for our police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel.  We declare God’s protection and provision over their lives.  In Jesus’ Name, we declare that no weapon turned against them will succeed.  Every voice which rises up to accuse them will be silenced. As they go out on emergency calls, we confess that You will order Your angels to protect them wherever they go.  Your angels will hold them up with their hands so they will not hurt their foot on a stone. By faith, we confess that the public servants who are called by Your Name, Father, will love You with all of their hearts, soul, strength, and mind.  They will find their source of strength in You. We declare that they will consistently seek Your will in all that they do and You will show them which path to take.

Holy Spirit, show me ways in which I may assist the police, fire and emergency medical personnel in my community:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, as the first responders seek You for wisdom, please reveal any snares, traps or pitfalls that may lay ahead of them and show them how to circumvent these dangers. Help all first responders remain focused when they respond to an emergency. Help them to all work together as a well-oiled machine.  Remind them to be their brother or sister’s keeper. Calm the fears of their loved ones, especially young children. Help the family members to trust You for the safety of their loved ones. Comfort the families of those first responders who have died. Holy Spirit, remind those first responders who are Believers to always be joyful, never stop praying and to be thankful in all circumstances.  Remind the citizens of our great city to be mindful of our first responders; to follow their instructions, pray for them and to be appreciative of the commitment that these men and women have made to our city.

Merciful Father, forgive our police, fire and emergency personnel for their sins.  Forgive them for any injustice within the respective departments. Forgive us as a city for failing to recognize first responders until a tragedy occurs.   Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our police officers, fire-fighters and emergency medical personnel of those they need to forgive and help them to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our police officers, fire-fighters and emergency medical personnel to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord of Heaven’s Armies, You are great.  How deserving of praise, in the city of our God, which sits on Your mountain! As Your Name deserves, O God, You will be praised to the ends of the earth. Your strong right hand is filled with victory.  God Almighty, You reign forever and ever! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Merciful Father, we decree emotional healing for those who are overcoming the death of a loved one. Although they are grieving, they will put their hope in You, God! They will praise You again – as their Savior and their God!  Father, they will trust Your Word.  We declare that You are with them; they will not be discouraged, for You are their God. Your Word says that You will strengthen them and help them. You will hold them up with Your victorious right hand. Your Name, Lord, is a strong fortress; the Godly run to You and are safe. We decree that bereavement will last only for a short time and joy will replace sorrow.

Holy Spirit, help me to become more sensitive to the needs of those around me who are in mourning and show me how I can be an encouragement to them:

Holy Spirit, when we see our brother or sister mourning the death of a loved one, help us to be compassionate, but also to encourage him or her with God’s Word of hope and peace. Bring scriptures to our remembrance that will help to bring solace to our brother or sister.  Remind us to care for the physical needs of those who are in mourning, with food, transportation, child care or any other material thing that may be needed. Help us to be patient and to not be insensitive to their pain. Holy Spirit, when we are grieving as well, comfort us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.

Gracious Father, when others are grieving, forgive us for being impatient as time goes on after a death. Forgive us when we utter unkind words, making light of someone else’s pain at the death of a loved one. Forgive us for not taking care of the physical or emotional needs of others who have suffered loss. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind those who are overcoming the death of a loved one of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Almighty God, the heavens proclaim Your glory! The skies display Your craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night, they make You known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard, yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

July 13: A Prayer for the Greater Houston Area

Omniscient Father, we thank You for the Greater Houston Area.  Thank You for our city officials, first Responders, public works employees and everyone who helps with the day-to-day operation of this city.  Thank You for the citizens of this great city.  You are great and greatly to be praised. You are to be feared above all gods.  The earth is Yours and everything in it; the world and all its people belong to You.  You laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.  Lord, Your works are wonderful.  You are our hope and shield.  In You, do our hearts rejoice because we trust in Your holy Name.  Let Your unfailing love continue to surround us Lord, for our hope is in You alone.

Lord God our Shepherd, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in the Greater Houston Area as it is in heaven.  As citizens of this great city, we do not see Jew or Gentile, male or female, black or white.  But, as Your children, we have all put on Christ, like putting on new clothes and we will walk in unity and love with one another. It is because of this love that we exhibit for each other that people will know that we are Your disciples. Your Word tells us that if we love You, we must also love our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Therefore, we declare by faith that the Body of Christ in Houston, Texas will no longer stand and declare our love for You with hate in our hearts for our brothers and sisters in Christ.  We will not look out only for our own interests, but we take an interest in the needs of others.  We will live in harmony with each other and resist racial, social, and economic division.  We will be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. We declare that the people in our communities will turn away from evil, and do good; they will search for peace and work to maintain it.

Holy Spirit, remove the scales from the eyes of the unsaved people in our city and draw them to the glory of the Father so that they will confess Jesus Christ and receive Him as their Savior and Lord.  Mobilize and send us and other believers into our communities to share the Gospel, causing Your power to prevail throughout our city. Holy Spirit, please help the residents of this city to stand for justice and righteousness. Lord, please help the leaders of our city. We ask that Your Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, and power rests upon each political, civic, religious and business leader, investor, and entrepreneur in our city. Fill them with the knowledge of Your will and give them a thirst for Your Word, so that they will walk in Your ways for practicing business. Help them to make righteous decisions and operate with honesty and integrity. Holy Spirit, synchronize the hearts of every believer in our city and unify our spirits to receive and submit to Your vision for our city.  Holy Spirit, bless the Greater Houston Area to be a beacon of light and hope for the nation.

What are some specific concerns you have about our city?  Ask the Holy Spirit how He would have you act as an agent of change to address these issues:

Righteous Father, forgive us for any acts of sinfulness, including strife, discord, jealousy, rivalries, violence, theft, injustice, hatred, oppression, greed, idolatry, pride, slander, racism, sexism, ageism, laziness, apathy, and any abuse of power.  Forgive those people in our city who do not trust in You.  Forgive those of us who are Christians who have not shared Your Gospel with our neighbors.  Father, please have mercy on our city.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.

Holy Spirit, help us not to yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Immortal Lord, who can be compared with You?  You are enthroned on high.  You stoop to look down on heaven and on earth.  Your strong right arm is raised in triumph.  Your strong arm has done glorious things!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
